Getting close to ordering one now as they are expected back in stock @ OCUK very soon and still trying to decide which is the best out of these 3 to pre-order. BFG looks to be the fastest of all but is it also the best choice. Does anyone know what are the pros + cons of each brand.

The BFG is pretty maxed out on both and can only get about 600/1770. The XFX however can go a little further and get 610/1800.

It depends if you want to OC or not, and how much you perceive the difference between a 3 year warranty and a lifetime one.

BFG imo. although I'd take ajgoodfellows advice and consider an x1900.
Eliminos, surely the max stable oc is down to pot luck and not who manufactured the card?

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Think I will probably go for the BFG then. Still waiting a few more days for the X1900XTX to arrive but read somewhere else it only has a 49GB/sec mem bandwidth & 10 billion pixels/sec fillrate so still a little below the GTX512 which will probably translate to lower performance in most of the existing games which do not take advantage of the extra pixel shaders of the ATI.

Not gonna wait for the G71 as I am currently using an AGP 6800GT so either the GTX512 or X1900XTX will be a big step up for me.

I know that, but from the reviews I have seen on average the XFX clocked higher.

Its notlike 10MHz out of 600 makes any noticable difference anyway.

We all know you can get chips that may clock much higher than usual and some wont. What we don't need is people pointing it out every 30 seconds.

Theres a place got stacks of 512mb GTX's in stock, OcUK beaten again. :(
How can this be if OCUK are getting 25% of all the UK's allocation and are usually first.

Are you sure they are really instock as I have seen several competitors offer them but on closer inspection they are misleading in their advertising as they only actually have GTX256's but are tricking people into ordering them instead! One competitor is even offering a 7800GTX256 for almost £500! Another is offering an Asus7800Dual for almost £600! I will still wait for OCUK to come up with the goods as BFG only list them + another as the main European stockists.

Don't know, i thought that to that OcUK would be first, but apparently not, unless they are first for the BFG, XFX brands, as the MSI and EVGA are in stock, and in good quantities elsewhere. :)

They are definately in stock, and they are the 512mb.

That explains it then. The MSI & EVGA GTX512 are slower than the BFG & XFX ones yet the price is about the same. Avoid as you just get bundles of software instead of higher clockrates!
