Something a little different to the Intel / AMD norm (source: TG Daily);

Via today announced new low-power versions of its Eden processor family. The new CPU's, a ULV 1 GHz chip and a 1.5 GHz part, will consume only 3.5 and 7.5 watts, respectively, and allow system builders to create fanless embedded computer designs. Via claims that idle power consumption of the new processors is just 0.5 watts.

The chips integrate MMX, SSE2 and SSE3 instruction set as well as 128 KB of both L1 and L2 on-die cache. Standard features also include Via's proprietary PadLock security technology, which, according to the company, can be enabled within applications to provide military-grade protection of business or personal information.

Via said that both new Eden processors are shipping now. Pricing of the CPUs has not been announced.
Should be good for SFF / quiet office systems.

Hopefully performance will be at least a little better than the C3 to allow for DivX and Xvid playback. :o

Interesting... along with this article, it could make for a very cheap media PC that can handle high-def h264 content.

Any idea how much these VIA chips will cost? Are OcUK planning on stocking them?
