TV out - colour on booting b/w in windows

Bit of an odd one this - My Aopen XC Cube has an NF2 motherboard with a GeForce4mx intergrated videocard.
Using a SVHS cable from the TV out to the TV I get can see the bios screens (in colour but not exactly crystal clear) and I can see the colour windows bootscreen.
However once it enters windows the screen flickers and I get a very poor greyscale output to the screen that is barely readable even at 800x600 16 bit.

The onboard is clearly capable of giving useable output to the TV but something in windows isn't working as well as it should.

Does anyone have any ideas ? I have never tried TV out before today.

I tried PAL and various subtypes of pal but no joy.
Then I tried removing the Nforce drivers for the gfx card and it rebooted in colour.
I guess it is a driver issue afterall.
