Hi,

I had two raptors in raid zero on my asus a8v deluxe connected to the Intel ICH raid controller. Then I bought a SATA harddisk and tried connecting it to the promise controller in an IDE mode, but it wouldnt work. Someone told me to connected it in raid mode, configure the sata drive as raid array with only one drive in it. Well that worked but the system freezes a lot. Can someone recommend me how to avoid these problems ?

Cheers

when does the system freeze? is it in windows only? maybe try update the raid drivers for the motherboard?
also when you say intel ich raid controller i presume this is a pci card? as afaik the asus a8v doesnt contain intel parts?

sorry my bad - ok there are two controllers on this motherboard. One is VIA I think and other is from promise. Both had different utilities to configure raid at boot up time.

Can someone recommend which drivers and where to get them from ? I tried the ones on the cd. I cant find newer ones on the asus website , I dont know which link to select from the viaarena website cos there are too many raid drivers

System freezes often when I try to copy something on the sata drive... its running windows xp
