...and I have to say that in black it looked very nice indeed. Although so similar to the 911 to non-car petrolheads it's probably indistinguishable.

For the same reason people buy robin reliants, the car will apeal to some people won't it, its just a pointless model in the range.

Pointless? Totally disagree there I'm afraid. Porsche saw a niche in the market and filled it. By the very fact that it's selling well goes to show it isn't pointless - people want it.

If they sell and Porsche are making money from them then they are far from pointless. The whole idea of a compony is to make money and thats what they are doing.

Actually, I'd say it's now made the 911 rather pointless.

You buy a Boxter cause you want a porsche and can't afford a 911 or want a convertible, you buy a 911 cause you want either a track weapon in GT format or for ppl to know you have taste, you buy a Coxter because?

Its not a convertible like the Boxter, its not as quick as the 911 and not as good round a track yet in normal driving conditions unless your on the edge of losing your license it will offer no more on the road than a boxter will.

Ah, that old chestnut eh? Wrong. For what a Boxster costs, you could get a 911 of the 996 variety. A lot of people choose not to for a myriad of reasons, the foremost being it's supposedly an amazing car.

Oh but it is as quick as the basic 911 Carrera, and quicker in fact, around a track. The performance is also more accessible with a more forgiving set up than the 911. Significantly cheaper too.
