New rig (bundle):
PC-Chips M861G with Athlon 64 3700
Two x 1 Gb of RAM labelled "NCP NC00441 DDR 1GB PC 3200"
PSU - Thermaltake 430 watt "XP550PP"
40 GB Quantum Fireball, DVD-RW, CD-ROM, floppy

Either stick of RAM is good in either slot, but both together fail MemChk (thousands of errors).
What do I do next?

Checked seating of RAM, observed anti-static precautions, blah, blah.

which 3700 do you have, socket 754 or 939.
if 754 then obviously no dual channel capabilities so rules that out.
if 939 then could be a number of things. try slacking off the timings. if your still getting errors then more likely to be incompatable (may jus require bios update), or possibly mem controller on cpu = No disguised swearing

The M861G is socket 754 (= no dual channel). I tried slacking timings from CAS 2.5 to CAS 3 - the only adjustment available - no better.

I have read elsewhere that NCP RAM is no good, "barely manages CAS 3".

I still don't understand how one memory stick can work fine, but two of the same don't.
