hi
i think my current hdd is due for replacing as its starting to make some strange noises, the thing is that i have always gone for ide drives but was wondering wether or not i should get a sata hdd this time, which are the better type of drive and why? and if the sata drives are better can i use one with my current board?
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SATA. Yes, your board is fine. Why? Cabling is much tidier, no problems with master slave etc like on IDE. Also, transfer rates are slightly improved (1-2MB/s) but well worth having something which is the future.
