It it's within a year the retailer should provide a warranty replacement... unless it's an OEM version then replacements are usually handled by the manufacture direct.

manufacture might have a small backpile for situations like this. more often than not they will however give you a newercard - at a guess a 7800GT....
although, this sli business does pose a problem. would be very interested to see what happens.

im in a similar boat. Ive got a x800 pro which has just failed on me :( I very much doubt they will have any x800 pro's to replace it. Do you think if i asked they would provide a 2gb ram kit to equal value of the card i bought?

stigggeh ......thats a thought! although i smelt burning and when i looked the screen had gone off and there was no fan movement on the said gfx card looked to be totaly dead but saying that it would solve a lot of problems if they could repair it on the other hand if they replace it with a 7800GT i could always sell the good ultra on MM and buy a match for the 7800!! i have the puter running on one ultra atm :(

sorted....... overclockers have offered a refund on the defective one but that doesn't really help me as they dont produce the ultra anymore so i have a single ultra in my mobo, looks like a upgrade is in the pipeline any idea's as to a good upgrade SLi, my ultra's was giving me 10,895 in 3dmark05 will two GTX 7800 give me a large enough increase to warrant the expence of upgrading ? or should i wait?

The GTXs are are quite a bit faster than the ultras. However, if i were you, i would sell the 2nd ultra and get yourself a single x1900xt. In many cases the XT will be faster than SLi ultras and not much slower in the others.

EDIT: Looking at some past reviews, a single GTX would be competitive with SLi ultras, so a x1900xt should be quite a bit faster than SLi ultras :p

Thanks for your input .....just to clarify, x1900xt will be just a little slower than two SLi'd GTX's????

That would be 256MB GTX (not 512MB - but then these cost more also).

Note SLI, due to overhead (even when using 512MB GTX cards) is sometimes slower than when using a single card of the same type. Games where SLI is slower than a single card include Half Life 2, Serious Sam 2 & Fable (there are others).

So the X1900XT is a wise choice.

Nah, SLi GTXs would be a bit faster than a x1900xt. I was trying to save you money since an x1900xt would cost you £360 compared to £660. A x1900xt is more comparable to SLi 7800GTs, perhaps a tad slower in general, and power consumption is the same.

Not withstanding the extremely expensive GTX 512MB and crossfire, since you don't have a crossfire motherboard, perfomance from top to bottom is something like the following:

SLi GTX £660
SLi GT £410 or x1900xt £360
7800GTX £330 or x1800xt £295 or SLi 6800 ultras
7800GT £205

Best value for money would be the x1900xt or the SLi GTs IMO. I would take the x1900xt because of the HDR+AA and the non angle dependant AF. SLI AA takes too much a performance hit to be playable at higher rez.

i seriously doubt it would be a full refund for the original card- warenty will usually take into account depreciation when a cash refund is given

The refund is for what the card last sold for, not what i paid for it!!
