Just about to set this up as the only HDD in a new build for now. A couple of queries as this is my first build - what's the best partitioning idea, one large, one small/one larger or what? Secondly, to allow sataII i believe you need to tweak things a little, how do I go about that.
Thanks for any help

I only use one partition but others will advise differently. In the end, it is down to your usage and whether or not you reinstall XP often.

SATA-II enabling comes from the Hitachi Drive Function Tool (DFT). A link is in my SATA-II sticky at the top of the HDU forum. :). Read the note on the Hitachi Webbie too. The link is under question 6.

I only use one partition as well not least because I don't like messing around with disk partitioning tools if I can help it. If you have a specific reason for it or will be formatting regularly and don't wish to lose your data then I'd just go with one partition. As smids says it will come down to how you intend to use your drive.
