Richard Hammond and James May review the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche 911 and BMW M6 visit the Isle of Man. Can a car drive across an Icelandic lake?

There's a trip down motoring memory lane with the E type Jaguar and Aston Martin DB5 and the world's greatest powersliders. Plus the Drifters visit the Top Gear track and Chris Evans and Ian Wright are 'Stars in a Reasonably Priced Car'.

HI there

Watching Ian Wright go round the track made me laugh, what a nutter. :D :D :D

Clarkson was doing 143mph in that BMW on N/S roads, very naughty. :D

If it was my own money then I would go for the Porsche and spec it out with a few options.
The M6 is going to depreciate like a lead balloon and the Aston is outclassed in everything but looks.

I'd go for the Aston Martin personally.

The Porsche just doesn't do anything for me, just looks plain. The BMW does sound like a nice car not just its looks for the performance specs and stuff but it looks ugly as hell.

The Aston does 0-60 in under 5 seconds and has a top speed of 186Mph, and that sure isn't slow!

Does anybody know what type of 911 it was they used? C2 or C4? Or another type?
IIRC it was a 997 C2 (Carrera S)
