Hi folks, I'm got some data for various organisations which shows how many staff they have employed each month for the past 5 months. I have plotted line graphs of the data in Excel, and what I want to do is extrapolate the number of staff that will be employed in 3 months time. I've added the trendline, but im not sure which type to use - Linear, Polynomial, Log, Exponential, Power, or R Squared. Could anyone please suggest the best type to use?
As an example, for one organisation the dataset i have is 544, 547, 548, 548, 547. There are no huge variations in the data for any of the organisations, so the calculation doesnt need to iron out any serious fluctuations.
Thanks to anyone who knows a bit more about stats than I do, its been years since I've had to do this stuff! Cheers.
