is this a worthy upgrade for me right now on the system in my sig.....

does 8x AGP make a big defference with a card of this stature?

I'd like to play Quake 4 a max detail, but my 6600GT is struggling a little especially with a lot going on....

the 7800GS will be a lot faster then your 6600GT, also you can sell your 6600GT to recoup some of the costs for the new card.

im looking for a 6600card since i need one for video decoding assistance.

the 6800GS is a better buy than the 7800GS though, IMO.
But then the faster X850XT is another good option.

My XFX 7800GS EE overclocks to 475/1450. Thats also conservative as ive had it running ATI tool stable at 492/1480 !!! Ive backed it off a bit to be well on the safe side though :)

Hey, for an AGP card this is a good upgrade for me, i will dust of the wallet and look for a good deal on a 7800GS. The EVGA looks awesome and the lifet time warrenty looks great to, what is the best option for me from OC'ers.uk? I trust this site for purchases, and would greatly appreciate some reccomendations

OcUK best deals......
For 7800GS probably this....
XFX GeForce 7800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT70-KUAF7) (GX-068-XF) Price:**£189.95 **(£223.19*Including VAT at 17.5%)

Honestly though i would save some cash by buying this card instead.... almost as fast as the 7800GS ; but saves you a fair bit of money....
XFX GeForce 6800 GS Extreme XT Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT40B-UDD3) (GX-065-XF) Price:**£154.95 **(£182.07*Including VAT at 17.5%)

If Quake4 (enemy territory etc) is your primary concern, stick with the Nvidia, 7800GS would be better than the 850XTPE. A 6800GT works fine with full details with AA at Q4, so I'm sure the 7800GS would do it with ease.
