Basically I've been having some graphics problems lately and I want to try and eliminate heat as an issue (not entirely sure). So what are good all-in-one solutions?

Zalman FS-V7 Fatal1ty Copper VGA Cooler is one of the best around and if thats a bit expensive then Zalman VF700-ALCU Quiet Copper/Aluminium VGA is very good

The Zalman is totally silent plus it gives you the option of using either the 2 or 3 pin fan header to increase cooling/lower the noise. On the low speed 2 pin connection my old AGP6800GT256 was totally silent and 20C lower temps than the stock cooler. On average they give 10-20C better performance than std stock coolers (exception to this is the 7800GTX512 stock heatpipe cooler as that is silent so no need to put a zalman on one of those).

I found it stressful, was easy to put on but i was stressed nonetheless because it was my first time putting it one on my GFX card.

I've installed three zalman Vf700 cu coolers and they have all worked a treat, great cooling and quiet too. I'm looking to put one of the new VF900 cu coolers on me X1900XT when they're available. I think the fata1ty versions are a bit overpriced imho and don't offer anymore "real world" cooling than the vf700.

What are nominal temperatures for an X800XT? I can't install any driver set over 5.9 (catalyst) without getting problems in Counterstrike source or Battlefield 2 (trackmania seems to play OK)...so I'm going to try replacing the fan. As my GPU temp goes to 80 in a game. So hopefully replacing the fan will work.

Actually they do ... the fan is faster so it does cool better ..but yes they are overpriced, unfortunaly they dont make a non-fatal1ty with the same speed fan :)

I think 80 might be safe but I wouldnt want my gpu running at that, in the 70's tops but i'd like mine in the 60's and lower
