Reading the forums i discovered the difference between Porting and migration, now here is the plan:
Now out of contract with t-mobile so the plan is to migrate to PAG in order to avoid 30 days notice and delay in service/changeover that comes with porting, so having a PAG with the same number.
Then migrating the other way from PAG back onto contract with t-mobile taking advantage of a free phone and 12 months half price line rental and still keeping the same number!
Now i've spoken to t-mobile tonight and have confirmed that you can migrate from PAG to contract and get all the benefits.
Has anyone done this before?
Edit: well it turns out that T-mobile can't or aren't allowed to migrate from contract down to PAG so its off to virgin first
