Had a few gremlins with hdd's recently but thats another story :rolleyes:
i've noticed most of them are being detected as CHS , but i'm 99.9999% certain they all used to be LBA....

4 of my hdd's are MAXTOR :cool: (i know what some are thinking!)
and theres a pair of Hitachi's

Any one else notice what theres are showing up as and wether they changed or not, just got a gut feeling something strange is going on or about to happen :eek:

Cheers

Yeh I noticed that about a week ago, one of my drives is CHS, didnt think anything of it, just assumed it had always been that way and I'd never noticed it! Its only one of my drives that is coming up as CHS..

Erm... whats chs and lba?

Briefly, its to do with how the motherboard recognises the hdd's capacity
CHS = Cylinders, Heads, Sectors
long time ago you had to tell the mobo what those settings were :eek:

LBA = Logical Block Addressing, Newer easier and usually auto detected in the bios, theres the basics but for an all you wanted to know try here
