Gainward should bliss up some AGP gear and really take the crown, a 460/1300 7800GS or 6800GS on AGP would be quite a marketing succes

Hi there

We have requested that Gainward make us a 7800 GS 512MB AGP running at 500MHz and 1400Mhz memory. ;) :D

There is a evga 460/1350 card as oppossed to the evga 440/1350 I made thread about here.

I bet it will hit 500/1400 and if not a bios mod to vcore or hardmod to vcore /memory would let it.

3 different powered cards with 2 choices each for fan type so 6 cards in total

Saving for my next upgrade in July. Remember owning a GF2 GLH Gainword before. Very fast card. Then a 5700Ultra Gainward. Unfortunatly they dissapeared and had to get otehr brands. Glad to see em back.

A 7800GS 512 for around £199 incl vat would be nice ;).

I always wanted a Gainward 'Goes LIke Hell' 5700 Ultra. They were sick cards. I ended up with a Sapphire 9600XT then saving up for a Leadtek 5950 Ultra. Brilliant card. Was owning a lot of 9800 Pro's / 9800 XT's with it :D My mate still uses it in his rig day to day.

A: I doubt that apart from 3dmark 03

B: It should beat 9800pros it cost twice as much! :p

Not for how much I got my 5950 Ultra 256MB for :D £100inc. Brilliant price for the top notch card of the time. They were retailing around the £280+ mark at time as the 9800 XT were around the same price. The pro's were around £200+ mark at the time.

Just looking at the new 6800GS 512 model, seems a bit crazy putting 512meg on a 12 pipe card, but at least the price is reasonable I suppose. Could probably better a 6800U due to the insane clockspeeds, but I wonder how it compares with the 7800GT....

They put 512MB's on an X1300  and that has 4 pipes

I would have thought that the 6800 would be pretty useless with 512MB's of memory. Would have to see some benchies really.

Well the 6800 GS 512MB BLISS is certainly quite a bit quicker than 6800 GT's so in theory should be able to get close to the performance level of a 6800 Ultra or even match it and for the money its a great buy. :)

How does the 6800 512MB GS Bliss, 485MHz / 1300 MHz, 12 pipes, fair up against a Sapphire X800 XL 512MB, 400MHz / 980MHz, 16 pipes ? They are in the same price range...

Saying that you can get a Powercolour X850 XT 256MB, 520MHz / 1080MHz, 16 pipes, for even less, @ £152. Saving around £30 over the 6800 GS Bliss card.

Is the extra 256MB on the 6800 512MB GS Bliss and X800 XL 512MB going to make the cards faster than the X850 XT 256MB?

I would be getting one of them cards I think for a new rig. Dont game that much tbh, mostly football manager so I dont need anything fancy, but having said that. When I do get a 'cheap' card, I'l probably end up getting a X1900 XTX lol :p

Thanks.

damn i was wavering on going over to pci-e as i'm not not sure on if the upgrade from x800 pro is worth it.

but if that baby comes off soon i might stay on AGP ( would have to be inside next 2 months )

The extra 256MB can make a difference at higher resolutions.

Out of the two I'd go for the 6800GS because it's factory overclocked - at stock they'll perform about the same but when overclocked the 6800GS will pull ahead

I'd be tempted to stretch a little and consider the 7800GT/X1800XL as these are a fair bit faster or save your money and get the 256MB model - something like the X850XT for £150 as this is faster than the X800XL

Hi there

Also the 6800 GS 512MB is now available from the site with stock arriving Monday. :)

In the box with the Gainward BLISS 7800 GT 512 and 6800 GS 512 you get a voucher which allows you to pick a free item of software/game, see our website for more information. :)

See thats a lot better way of doing things. Putting a voucher in and let you chose your own game to your personal tastes. Not 1 game that everyone has to have.

Cool card btw, but need something with more oomppff to power this dell 2405fpw.

If they did release a 7800GS 512MB card how would it fair against my 6800GT, or more importantly, against the 850XT PE, which is the king of AGP at the moment. Also, How much would the price be. Anything over £200 is a no no for me.

It should be a fair bit better if the clocks are anything to go by

The stock 7800GS is slower than the X850XTPE but when overclocked to 460Mhz on the core it really begins to noticably pull ahead. If it's released clocked at 500Mhz then it could really be the card to get

Price wise it could be rather pricey unfortunately, seeing what prices the existing overclocked 7800GS cards go.

If you're looking for a good upgrade for £200 odd I'd consider getting the BFG 7800GS (which is already overclocked) and overclocking it further

Dont forget as reviews show you, the 7800GS is running newer functions, who the hell cares about a few FPS if you are running ATI X800/850's 2.5year old dx9b etc etc, this is 2006 BTW, DX9C has been out since XP-SP2 (aug 2004).
