I have a feeling this has been answered above but I'll ask just for clarification..

Does running your memory at a divider effect real world performance of your machine?

if you have an AMD64 cpu = NO

Ive got my HZ running at 230 3-3-3-6-1T. I wanted to get it running 1:1 but it wont do it even at 3-5-5-10-1T. Any ideas how i can get it running at 1:1 (280HTT)? It will boot at 280 but my pc crashes if i prime it for more than about 10 mins.

If nayone is running their HZ at 280 mhz please tell me your settings.

In memtest I only start getting errors at 46% before this its error free at 280 mhz.

I can game for hours at 270 1:1 with my opty 2.7ghz and primes for 12 hrs error free.

However I run memtest at 270 and I get errors on test 5

250 no errors like you would expect @ 2.6v
260 no errors like you would expect @ 2.6v

270 errors @ 2.6 ,2.7,2.8 v

am i being a noob?

I have tried 2.6-2.8v and no change.

all this is at stock timings

Also mate run windows Memtest. Ive read from various Techs that doss version will pick up errors when there may not even be a fault.

Not garenteed but i only use Dos memtest to check if they are at risk of corrupting my install if not then Windows Memtest here i come.

what ram would you need to run 1:1 with your opty?

crucial ballistix?

can you post me a link to the prog you use just to make sure I'm using the right one.

The one I downloaded limits the ammount of ram I can test

cheers

P.S you have the same mobo as me so I might be asking a few more questions :)

running HZ 254 , 180 divider @ 2.7v 3-4-4-8, dfi expert.
170 opteron 280 x 10
tried running 1.1 with no joy, but have'nt tweeked to find max mhz. will do when i get time.
for now i'am happy with it ;)

just got these to replace my geil value 2gb kit too
running almost the same as you. 254, 180 divider@ default volts (im presuming 2.7) 3-4-4-8 dfi ultra-d opteron 146 280x10

is it better to slacken timings and go for 1:1 or keep as they are?

Forgive me for being noobish.
But am I right in thinking that I can use these sticks with my Athlon64 4000 San Diego/ DFI LanPaty nf4 SLi-D at default multiplier (12) 1:1 x 250Mhz for 3000Mhz?

If not where do you think i should be hitting if I stick with the 250-260mhz that the HZ should easily provide me, using a lower multiplier on my athlon64 4000?

I'm stuck as to which 2gb kit to get, these g.skill seem lovely for the price. Just not sure if they are best for me.

You calculations are spot on mate. I'd say the HZ's should be perfect for you as they will do 250 default. If you dropped your multi to 11 and could get 260 out of the HZ, you'd get a tidy 2860Mhz out of you cpu if it could do this that is.

thats correct. can the 4000 san diego's take 3000mhz though? the memory can take 250 (as it should) but its a little disappointing it cant take settings like cas 2.5-3-3-7 like my geil value could at stock.

I though most of the 4000's max out at around 2.7ghz. correct me if im wrong people

Mine came yesterday and i can't say that i am very impressed with it. It will do 250@3-4-3-5 1T with 2.6v but at 3-4-4-8 1T i can't get the damn stuff past 253mhz without the system falling down all the time. Thats with a 10x multi as well. I can run 11x250 for 2.75 but i could do that with my Crucial value PC3200 and with better timings too, 3-3-3-5 1T. It doesn't matter how much or how little voltage i put through it, it just will not budge past 253mhz. Bloody rubbish if you ask me!! :( Might even send it back.

they would laugh in your face, (and then charge you money for a product that isnt faulty) mine is better than that, im running then at 3-4-4-8 253mhz at the moment but i have had them upto 270x10 1:1. I wanted my processor to go another 100mhz though so i just stuck it on a 180 divider (now at 280x10, 180 divider meaning around 253mhz)
