Hi
Im thinking of replacing my cable network to wireless at home. I assume aswell as getting wireless cards for each pc, i need to get some kind of wireless access point (router). Why is this? Why cant two computers with wireless cards communicate directly?

some enlighten me

They can. It's called ad hoc. But you're real question is why can't 17 computers with wireless cards talk simultaneously, and for that, you need an access point. This is *not* the same as a router. It's just like a wireless switch.

You don't need to get a router, or wireless AP, at all - you could use ad hoc wireless and ICS.
It just isn't great, and would require one machine to be on for the other to get an internet connection.
