Hi Folks,

I dont play games very often but i do use my PC for all my photographic work. I currently have a GeForce FX 5700 256MB card, i would like to upgrade this card (AGP) and have seen some good deals on the ATI 9550 256MB can anyone comment on if this is a suitable budget upgrade all i wont is slighty better game performance. IS there much difference between these 2 cards?

Many Thanks in advance.

9500 & FX 5700 would be about same speed (9550 a bit slower). not worth changing cards.

minimum upgrade i would suggest is to a ATI Radeon X700 or Nv 6600.

Get a 2nd hand 9800 pro / XT if you can.

9800 pro - - - - - 256-bit DDR; 680 DDR MHz/ 380 MHz core; 8 pipes
9800 pro 256MB - 256-bit DDR; 700 DDR MHz/ 380 MHz core; 8 pipes
9800XT - - - - - 256-bit DDR; 730 DDR MHz/ 412MHz MHz core; 8 pipes
(some later ones came with only 128MB)
