MS Word Maxes Out My CPU

When i'm surfing the web, playing MP3s, doing general stuff my CPU sits at about 34c, but I just opened Word and my CPU fan spun up a bit. I checked and it's now running at 44c and Task manager shows WINWORD using 99% of CPU resources and the CPU usage is at 100%. Closing Word stops this and my temps go back to normal. Is this normal? It's just a standard Word document, no pictures, just a few pages of text.

Update: it's one particular document it seems that's sending the CPU to 100%, it's about 4 pages of text and that's it. Some of it's German but I can't see why that'd make a difference! Odd.
