The Power colour X850 XT has 520MHz GPU Clock Speed
- 256MB 1080MHz GDDR3 memory accelerates the latest cutting edge 3D applications
- 256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory interface
- Sixteen pixel pipelines
For £146
Where as the Gecube X1600XT 256mb PCI-E Has a core of 590MHz and a memory clock of 1.4ghz DDR3 but only 12 pixel pipelines but is cheaper at £127 (not ocuk, sorry admin)

Basically which is best.
Thanks

Please don't waste your hard earned money on a X1600XT, they're absolutely rubbish due to the 128bit memory. The X850XT is better.

The only downside is that the X1600 supports Shader Model 3.0, whereas the X850XT does not.

Alternatively, the XFX GeForce 6800 GS Extreme XXX Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-056-XF) is pretty nippy and supports SM3.0 too.

Have to agree with the x850, SM3.0 doesn't come into it as theres bugger all using it, well certainly not enough that its worth having a SM3.0 card anyway. :)

Welcome to the forums btw. :D

Core & Mem speeds of X850 XT

So it seems we are all in agreement.
Out of curiosity what kind of core speeds and memory speeds are you guys overclocking to?
I just added 100MHz core to my *cough cough* 9600 pro which i will be glad to see the back of. 426MHz core and 211MHz memory with that atitool thingy. It sounds so bad when you see the specs of todays cards.
It's like i'm trading in a 1.1 fiesta for a Ferrari, perhaps not an enzo, that'd have to be the x1900 i guess, maybe a 355, still good but a little yesterday.
I was thinking I could stay in for a few weekends and stretch the budget to an X1800 XT the one that's around £230 inc, only if it's worth it though.

I reckon you should probably do it and buy the x1800xt - rather than upgrade twice jsut upgrade the once - and the performance difference will just be phenomenal especially at your resolution - going from a fiesta to a ferrari isnt doing the x1800xt at that price justice :D

mate, calling that a fiesta is being modest, a fiat cinquecento seems to be a better analogy :D

Well if you can afford the Club3D X1800XT 256MB, then thats definitely the card to go for.
Faster than a 7800GTX at a much cheaper price.
You wont need to upgrade after getting that card for a long time.

Agreed. Even ATI admit that their X1600 series is pretty dire admitting that Nvidia's 6600 has got got them beat. thats saying quite a lot mentioning that your enemey has you beat. It is the first thing they are going to repalce, witht eh X1700. However, the X1700 will be going against the 7600- going to be another fun battle.

I would hold off buying anything for a couple of weeks and see what Nvidia release and how ATI respond.

Well the X1600XT is same speed as 6600GT (each card is better on some games afaik, so not too bad really, considering price.

The X1800GTO is being released to take on the 7600 series.

Nvidias prices arent going to get to £234.94 Including VAT ony any card as quick as the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3, so he really should buy that card while prices are low. :)
