ok after much debateing i have finally bitten the bullet and ordered the following

asrock dual/sata11 motherboard
amd x2 3800

now ive gone for this board because it allows me to keep my existing 2Gb of memory and my Nv 6800gt, with the oprtion to upgrade to a pci-e card latter in the year.

now currantly i have an intel northwood 3Ghz that runs nicely at 3.5, as i am watercooled i will most certainly be overclocking the x2 3800 and im hopeing for 2.5Ghz maybe even more.

please tell me i havnt made a mistake......and that i will be pleased with the performance boost that im expecting..... :D

This looks to be a good choice for your parts.

the x2 3800+ can get upto 2.5 - 2.7 if all goes well, so you should see a nice performance boots. along with the dual core fun that you will be seeing!
