Both have the same fsb 800, I couldnt tell you by how much the 630 is better as the 2mb of cache on the 630 is running at a higher latency than the 1mb of cache on the 530.

Obviously there wouldnt be much point upgrading from a 530 to a 630 but if you were buying one or the other then the 630 is the one to go for, the cache is a plus factor, its also built on newer tech and overall seem to clock better.

ok thanks for the info

got P4 2.4 'c' GHZ 800mhz, 512mb DDR400 ram, 74GB raptor, i think it got 512kb cache. i recently editing videos and noticed its bit slow, sometime it takes about 10 mins to open 800MB divx AVI in movie maker.

would P4 630 improve the speed or extra RAM?

Yes it would defantly be an improvement on your 2.4c, bear in mind though that its going to have to be a new motherboard, ram and graphics though as yours is 478 and the 530/630 is 775.

If you are doing a lot of video work then more ram is always going to be a good thing.
If you are only after a cheap upgrade, there are a lot of 3ghz EO Prescotts around which will fit in your board and most easily do 4ghz, you could pair that with an extra 512mb for around 150quid.
