I know that there are quite a few of you out there that are using Foobar for their music player. Everyone seems to have a little different setup so I figured could do a post your Foobar setup to see what others are coming up with. Please limit your photo size to 800x600. Also if you can, please host the .fcs so that people are able to get most of your setup if they want it.

Here is mine. I am still working on trying to get all of my music tagged so that I can change the way the artists and albums are displayed, but it works for now.

Hi,

I'm new to foobar and so far like it a lot but i have no idea how to configure it like how you've done it. ie with the album list along the left etc.

How do i use the .fcs file? I'm using v0.9 btw if that makes a difference.

Thanks :)

Honestly it has been quite a while since I have set mine up. There was a guide on hydrogenforums that I followed and there was one or two guids in a wikipedia that I followed. I am using 0.8.3 so some of the componenets such as columnsUI may not work very well with the new version. First to get the album list on the left you will have to have album list installed, as well as columnsUI. And to load my .fcs you go to Foobar>Preferences>Display - Columns UI>Other Tab> click the import button near the middle.

Edit: Here are a couple of good links:

Just got into foobar this morning and I love it! Excuse the terrible artists, I have loads of assorted songs from some rather questionable "artists" :)

I can give you my config file, but that only stores the colours etc, not the layout as such. What I could do, is zip up my entire foobar folder and post it, and if you install foobar special with a full install, then just overwrite the folder with mine, you would get it looking just like mine (I will nuke my database first so that you dont have all my songs showing up!)

No problem mate, I assume you are running 0.8.3, otherwise this won't work :)

Anyway, I have uploaded here:

http://download.yousendit.com/B98927C07624E58F

You will need to setup your path to your mp3's under options - database, restart then go back to options, database and click scan for it to show up with all your stuff. You can delete the "Brian Houston" playlist, but don't delete the "now playing" one or it wont work right.

Hopefully that will work for you, let me know!!

Thanks Grahame.

I haven't tweaked it much yet:

One more question though, how do you get the artist list (or album list) in the top right like you have. This would make it much easier to browse through my music.

Thanks a lot, i can now switch from WMP10 to this :D

Hi mate, getting there!
You need to go to preferences - database and in the path box, paste in the path to your collection. Once you have done that, restart foobar then go back to the same option and click the "scan button". Once done, again restart foobar and you should see your albums.

Mines just as it comes, nice and simple which is the reason I first started using foobar2000.

I don't even use Playlists, I just open the folders where the albums/trakcs are saved and play:)
