Very sad - but he was a rascal for most of his life drinking and smoking heavily - the mouth/throat cancer lost him his voicebox and tongue, and on it went... Not saying it's his fault, back when he was living it up, nobody knew or told him what could happen.

That was a good film, Oliver! (the musical) - I used to watch it over and over...

Great film, knew no more of his work other than Oliver but I am sure to be oscar nominated he must have been talented. RIP.
