Took her for a rolling road run today at Hillpower, the Renault tuning specialists with the Renault Sports Club. She was up first and unfortunately the bottom end let go, and now sounds rougher than Pat Butcher after several bottles of whisky and 10 cigars.

But, all may not be lost. I'm not going to go into any details yet, but there's a possibility she may be back, and with a sting in the tail. ;)

Sorry to hear about the car mate, it looks so mint bodywork wise so I hope you get it back on the road! Also not happy to hear about another valver letting go just as I've managed to get the money together for one...

Awww, the old girl gave up the ghost then? I'd better not tell Vicki, she cried when Doll drove it away, she'll be distraught if she knows it's dead :(

I'm sure it'll be back soon though, and I'm betting on it having more power too ;)

Your old R4GTT engine going in it Lowe? :D I remember your thread about scrapping your old Clio with GTT engine due to major rust in the bulkhead, I'm presuming when you got rid of that the engine didn't get junked as well!

Sort of.. it was seriously down on power on the test run so they aborted it, had a poke around and there it was. :(

Still managed to see off a couple of cars on the A5 on the way down there. :p That probably did it thinking about it but, hey ho - 140k hard miles. It was never going to last forever.

I suppose you cant really complain - 140k out of a car thats probably been driven reasonably hard for a lot of its life.. It's not a bad innings for it really.

I take it there is a thread about the RR on RSC, will have to check it out.

Yeah there's a thread. I'm keeping quiet even on there for the moment since I don't know if I'll be able to 100% afford what I've been offered.

Another hint... It's rare, Renault Cup race spec and therefore commands a high price. :(

Ooof you tease!

If you cant afford to go with your little plan are you just going to drop another valver engine in there or will you get rid?

It's got a few patches that need attention. Rear arches are starting to go and the drivers door has a small edge bit of rust. Nothing too bad though from what I can see, and it can be tidied up without too much trouble. :)

Paul M had a load of F7P engiens going really cheap as he had stacks of them a while, something silly like £100 a pop.

Grab one of those, rebuilt it with some nice bits and won't cost too much, if you can't go along with your original plan :)

He'll also sell you a 19 touring car if he still has the contact :p

Problem is, by the time it's been rebuilt, chucked in and worked up to the same spec which matches what I've been offered, it'll cost more than what I've been quoted. :)

I recognised you when you posted the car up initially ;)

Ta - it's a bit of bad luck I guess but when talking quick cars, the 2 out of 3 rule applies:

Cheap - Reliable - Fast

You may only choose two of the above ;)
