Which would be the better cooling solution for my CPU?

I am considering buying a Opteron 146 and overclocking it to 3ghz using some nice mushkin redline XP-4000. Now obviously I am going to need to cool this to reach these speeds and prolong the chips life. But what I would like to know is what would be the best cooling solution for this setup?

I heard heard good things about the Artic Freezer 64. However, my friend has a Thermalright XP-120 with a big 120mm YS Tech fan (which I think is extremely hard to beat when on a bugdget of around £50). I think he gets temps of around 32C with his non-overclocked 64 4000.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Those temps are high

Freezer should be great, nice and quiet too. Spend the extra money on kit to cut a blowhole in the top of your case.

Really? I thought those temps were quite reasonable.

By the way I won't be considering cutting a hole in my lovely brand new case

Have you considered the SI-120? Its a bit more compatible than the XP120 and offers about the same performance. My CPU at 2750MHz sits at 33C idle and 44C load. Couple it with a Panaflo 120mm fan for best performance

Apologies, I should have mentioned that I am not worried about the sound of fans whizzing as like most people. My friends computer is kind of noisy. But at the end of the day. I want performance and am prepared to go partially deaf to get it.

edit: I value my hearing enough not to get a delta

I'm not really sure about the Thermaltake tbh.

What I really need is a review of some of these HSF solutions.

I think I probably will end up going for th following build. (not any time soon though I just want to get an idea of how much it is going to cost, plus I may well hold off until DX 10)
