I've got problems with both my systems - my laptop is clogged and needs a fresh install and my desktop has been going downhill with the final straw of office going belly up and in the attempt to fix it all other MS apps have also failed!!!

If i do a fresh install on the laptop is there an easy way of cloning the whole lot, apps, settings and all onto the desktop to save time?

If the systems were of the same specs, you could use Norton Ghost or something like that, but then it would take over EVERYTHING. So all the mixed up files and stuff would go across too.

I know new apples have something in there that takes all their old programs onto the new stuff, not sure if something like that is around for a PC?

What about using the files and settings transfer wizard ?

Never used it to be honest....what does/doesnt it transfer?

I'd not considered the different systems, but at least they are both intel based so i dont need mobo drivers and this and that added in after install!!
