So who bought one then? (7900)

I just received my XFX Extreme Edition, clocked at 690/1750 default (almost as fast as XXX version and far cheaper, it's no wonder OCUK chose not to stock it).

My initial impressions are wow silence, it's no louder than my previous Leadtek 7800GTX256 (which was quiet!), temps seem to be far less than my previous card despite the obvious 240MHz GPU increase!!

Quick run of 3dmark06 gets around 6350 with FX60 equivalent. :D

Well I'm well impressed, a nice bleeding-edge card with a silent fan and a simple non-resource hogging slow as an ass control panel, this ones a keeper unlike the last one (X1900XTX). ;)

Can you run your 7800 GT in 05 and 06 please. Then when you get the 7900 GT run that in 05 and 06 at the same system settings to see how actual difference there is please?

It would be very handy to know.

Cheers :)

Looks to be the 512MB GTX 675 / 1700 version. But it looks like he didnt get it from here.

I think the one he on about is one up on it. there a 690/1750 version i can see that XFX does but it pretty expensive :eek:

ROFL - scratch that again i can see what he means now again. He saved himself quite a bit of money compared from the 7800GTX xxx Xtreme version compared to his new card but still a bit too pricey for me.

What confused me the most was that i the difference in core speed is not 240 but (7800GTX xxx Extreme 550 core) and his new card 512 GTX 690 = 140 jump between the 2 cards. If he was referring to a standard 450 GT/GTX card then that figure adds up.

Can you post some benches with high quality? Most people will be forced to play with that setting due to the shimmering... so yeah - lets see the results when the image quality is more on par with ATI :}

im running a 4800+ at 2.7ghz and currently have a 7800gtx ee at 490core 1.3mem. ive gone for the 675core 1.7mem xfx gtx which whould arrive tomorrow (dont let me down ocuk), that should give me a nice bump in performance, i really just want to have 4xAA on in games instead of my current 2xAA. i might even be able to squeez it up to 700core :) though if my current xfx is anything go by, putting it even 1mhz over that 490 results in artifacts :O

Ordered an XFX 7900gtx, the standard 650 one, I'll be stunned if it doesn't manage 700 through coolbits, 50mhz clock jump isn't worth the extra imo. I'll probably get another one next month if it struggles with the LCD at 1680x1080.

Arcane, I would be supirsed if it does struggle with the rig you have. Getting another one, would just make your rig even better. 3000MHz FX power and 2 7900 GTX's... enough said :D
