Oblivion: unable to start new game

Installed & can load the menu up fine but once I click on new game it freezes & I need to end task. Seems to be a few people with the same problem on the official forums but no answers, hoping someone on hear may know??

i'm gessing it could be something to do with the newgame intro movie, a codec issue perhaps? thats all i can think off atm

just this second sorted it (sort of) its Audigy 2 card. Just doesn't like if I disable it it runs fine but obviously no sound. I am not going to bother installing my on board sounds just so i can play this game will wait for a fix to come out.

Edit- good point with the codec so I just reinstalled FFDSHOW & now it works with the audigy enabled
