Great overclocking system, (how far depends on your RAM), also very fast at stock.
Good quiet harddrive, with a good case.

to be honest with £900 u can get a top spec rig mate....you definately **** be looking at dual core CPU

will you be overclocking?

IMO this is what I think:

CP-148-AM AMD Opteron UP 170 Dual Core San Diego 2.0GHz 2MB Cache (Socket 939) - Retail (CP-148-AM)
£274.95 £274.95
GX-069-LT Leadtek GeForce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-069-LT)
£169.95 £169.95
CA-005-HP Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU - Black UV (CA-005-HP)
£54.95 £54.95
CD-026-NE NEC ND4551 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-026-NE)
£28.70 £28.70
MY-046-GL GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS3 (GE2GB3200BDC) (MY-046-GL)
£109.95 £109.95
DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-013-DF)
£94.95
with a slightly cheaper case and a 250gb sata.....

sorry havent done the maths but I would go along that line...best for overclocking etc....

x1900 is a good graphics card but uses to much power, heats up a lot and is loud.....

thats what i think anyway...

Like that last one, anymore for anymore? :D

Are the opterons pretty future proof?

EDIT: Also as the opterons are good for overclocking is the asus board any good for that? or would a DFI be better?

On that last one the motherboard might limit you a bit to what you are capable of. The DFIs are capable of insane speeds and it will be your bottle that will give in before the motherboard, depending on other hardware of course. I have a LANParty and I absolutly love it, never had the slightest problem with it.

An Opteron like that one is about as future proof as you can get at the moment for socket 939.
