but id try and get a better PSU ... i know it will be hard if your tight on budget, but a good PSU is pretty important

For a similar price you can get the Tagan 480w PSU which i could definately reccomend, absolutely silent and excellent stability.

switched the ram to geil value as suggested.

gonna stick wi the 7900gt.

my first build which, if it all arrives on wed/thurs i will be swearing at for some hours on friday.

wish me luck.

btw it has taken me nearly a fortnight solid of speccing the thing. it had better be worth it.

is going with a SLi board ( on bout sixty five notes ) and a 78/900 gt now not more future proof tho since i can SLi if i need to whereas with the ati 256 setup i can't crossfire?

whatever im gonna order when i find my card.

Wouldn't say SLI is really future proofing unless you expect to go to massive 30+ inch monitors etc. 19" monitors will be handled by a X1800, X1900, 7900GT, 7900GTX for a good time to come. You'll most likely want to upgrade the card to take advantage of, for example, DX10, before you need to upgrade due to poor frame rates.
