is this too hot..?

A CPU fan speed of 3835 rpm an a NB fan of 4115 ?

My northbridge fan is over that speed! It doesn't lift off. If the temperatures are wrong fair enough, but you can only find this out from a bios update it seems? Take the side of the case off and see what your case and cpu temperature drop down to.

If your heatsink is a standardish affair then its not doing bad assuming the case temperature is correct.

ok, i will definately be upgrading bios, is there anything i should take note of while doing it? i'm sure last time i did it, it asked me if i wanted to update in windows or dos? is that right, or am i making it up!? if not, which one?

Either should work. In windows is usually easier - just make sure you follow the instuctions carefully.
