im trying to work out the best way to sort these, but in honesty, I havnt a clue. any suggestions? my plan was to give the car a good wash and a t-cut, and then look at doing the meguires 3 step on it to really clean up and protect the paint from further damage... what do you guys think?

There is also some rust on one of the doors, any ideas how best to treat this?

When I had my Ghia X (Radiant Red) it had a patch of dull paint work and also both wing mirrors were the pink colour like your gf's car roof.

I found a TCUT and then meguiars gold class wax worked a treat.

This was before I discovered a clay bar though so maybe that would work too but tcut and gold class definately sorted it for me. My car was always very shiny :D

cheers for the responses so far guys, in reference to the rust (when i can get the pic to upload) how much care should we use avoiding it when doing the initial clean and polish? also, how easy is rust to treat usually, and does it require the use of spray cans, or can we t-cut across it?

rust is bare metal. So tcut won't work.

Wire brush off loose crap, apply jenolite/kurust/whatever to react with the rust to render it inactive and then paint.

Hardest bit is getting a good colour match on faded paint :(
