Whenever I write a dvd or cd my computer slows down to a crawl. I have an x2 4400 and 2 Hard drives, one with windows and the other with the file that is being burned. This should mean there shouldnt be any slowdown but there still is. Is it because of the memory bandwidth in the mobo or something similar?

is the dvd drive on the same ide cable as one of the hard disks? as they can only access stuff from 1 ide device at a time - if the master device wants something then it gets priority.

if they are sata drives, just ignore me - i'll go home!
my pc doesn't slow down while burning.
amd 146, 2 hdds, 1 dvd writer.

2 DVD drives are on an Ide cable and the two hard drives are SATA. Could it be a power issue? I very much doubt it but maybe it is?
