Hi,

I have just installed a fresh copy on Windows onto my rig. When windows has booted, everything is fine until you put any CD/DVD into the drive. I get the little cd icon curser come up for second or two but nothing ever mounts then my pc reboots!
I would have thought that it might be a hardware problem (i.e the drive) but how can it load a fresh copy of windows onto my hd, but crash my pc within windows?

any ideas

Right im getting a little closer to the problem. . . if I uninstall the motherboard drivers my dvd works as it should, but I have tried to install various versions of my motherboard drivers and im still getting the same problem. Im not sure how to cure this one. . .

In the run dialog type eventvwr and have a look in the logs for System and Application. At the time the PC shutsdown their should be a corresponding error or warning entry in one of the logs. Double-clicking will send windows off to find a solution if one exists - assuming that the info in the log is completely unhelpful lol

You could also paste it in here and see if anyone recognises the error :)

I'm getting this problem with my new system?!

I'm now thinking it may be something to do with Windows 64bit

or possibly even just because i havent activated windows yet.
