One question is this a good Plazma...
i was checking out our local c***ys yesterday and this 42" & 50" where sideby side and dam the quality of these things up close is mind boggleing

is this technology XD Engine II in a few other plazma`s as this is LG does philips or panasonic use this in there plazma`s becuse i was looking around more Plazma`s and none of them could compaire in the quality that these XD Engine II LG`s could do....

i think personaly this is my next screen
but i want to know if anything comes close to these Plazma`s
do LCD`s compete ? also the blacks and greys where awsome on this thing lol

these LG`s are pricey though 50" one costs just over 2 grand

You'd typically want to get a screen which would support a native 1080 resolution, although these seem few and far between at the moment.

I would suggest steering clear from retail outlets and heading off to a specialist place, where the staff won't be 17 and will know what they're talking about

Or buy the Pioneer PDP-506XDE, stunning plasma for the money. The last time I was in one of those retail outlets they had the LG's being fed with a HD demo and all the other plasma's being fed sd signals. But I agree with EVH speak to specialist retailer they are generally cheaper (my Pioneer panel was £700 cheaper than the retail giants), they will definately know what they are talking about and they will let you demo any sets with your own dvds.

Nah I ment that it doesn't have enough pixels to have native support for 1080i (1920x1080) resolution you need a screen which has 2,073,600 pixels the one you're looking into does 720p, which is what a lot of content will be like for some time to come some say.

Just food for thought, and yeh definately go into a specialist outfit rather than to a DSG chain store atleast the staff in the specialist stores know what they are on about ^^

Only a handful, really, and those tend to be very large and pretty expensive. The rest all seem to be the lower resolution (720p).

Personally, I think that unless you plan to use it extensively with a PC, having 1080p doesn't give a huge amount of benefits until the sources are properly 1080p (which will be quite a while to become mainstream). By then, huge displays should be substantially cheaper too.

PS. Isn't it 1080p that needs 1080 physical resolution on the side border?

Pioneer and Sharp have some native 1080p panels coming out in the next couple of months. Pioneer's panel is reported to be around the £5000 mark but they are going to be in very short supply. My local dealer is getting one a month but has said they look unbelieable.
