hope you like it. the x1.4 TC is must have.

(I've got this lens too by the way - few days ago and am thinking of getting a teleconverter) Would you recommend a 1.4 over a 2x converter you think? I know you lose a few f stops with a 2x but is 1.4 really worth it as it only very slightly increases the zoom...?

the x1.4 TC gives you 100-400mm on 1.5 crop
you will retain the auto focus with the x1.4 . also less image quality loss.

In the near future I'l sell my 70-200 and get the 100-300 and use it with the x1.4 TC.

The 1.4 gives a magnification of 98mm to 280. The 1.5 crop factor applied to this range of focal lengths then changes the angle of view to the equivalent of a 147mm to 420 mm zoom. The crop factor only affects the angle of view not the magnification

But with the relative increase in resolution that goes with it, it is tantamount to the same thing. Should you crop further, your pixels per inch can take a hit and still retain the same detail as a full frame sensor of the same resolution.
