Hello. Erm, I need a pretty big hard drive, and it seems all the ones above a certain storage capacity are labelled SATA-II on OCUK. Now this was fine but there didn't seem to be half as many motherboards which were labelled as supporting SATA-II when I was just looking. However there are a few that are labelled as having SATA 3Gb/s. Are these the same thing? Should I assume most motherboards support SATA-II unless otherwise stated? It's confusing me a bit but I just wanted to make sure that what i got was compatible...Thanks.

sata / sataII is backward compatible
thers only some intances where you would need to lock the rive ( with a jumper ) to 1.5GB/S to work on a non sataII compatible board.

so yea in a nutshell. it doesnt matter cos it will work regardless :)
but dont go intot rush buys !, have a looka round the forum and read other peopels threads a lot to find out more intfo abbout what would work best for you.
