I'm currently involved in refurbishing and opening a club in Newquay. It's a lapdancing bar (stripclub to the rest of the world) and the local news did a telephone interview with the owner (who got plastered in the clubs last night so i got to blat around his beemer today :D). The interview was run of the mill, the interviewer asked as many "loaded" questions as he could and my friend came out with the exact opposite of what he wanted to hear. :D

And then they opened the phonelines!

Dear god how many zealots are there out there! It ranged from one ex-policeman who was worried about the impending arrival of working girls hanging red lights above their windows (he also pointed out that prositution was used to fund the Great Train Robbery), he was also concerned that it could lead to Newquay opening an "adult" shop (umm, it's had one for years, try and keep up). Followed by some random council official who insisted that it would damage the moral fibre of the area, put off tourists and should never have been allowed from now back to the year of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Where do these people come from? (and what colour is the sky there?)

strip club - way to go to degrade human society and treat women as object whilst not forgetting to mention that it makes men look weak in that they have to pay to see such things.

Alternatively: Place to see boobs. Men get boobs, dancers get money, society wins

eurgh - this is the sort of thing that will probably sound like complete BS, and all i can do is assure you that it happened.... (well, as much as i can)

a local council meeting in *insert town here* sometime last year (a colleague's husband is a member) - the topic comes on to a the proposed development of a 'pole dancing club' in the town.
outrage, of course...
except one elderly councellor who come out with the blinder -
'we have a greek restaurant, and a indian restaurant, maybe the polish workers need somewhere to relax of an evening...'

iirc, redruth/camborn/St Ives (you hear about them protesting against that new bar there?), some from truro but less so and a whole load from the places like Carnon Downs/Devoron (I always spell that wrong) ie was supposed to be comuter towns but turned into granny hovels, less so now as they are running out of time, one foot in the grave etc etc.

Take the Rocket Club, for example, in Birmingham (Broad Street). Stag Do, so naturally we head in. They're unaware it's a stag do, but my mate is approached by two ladies, who say a private dance with both of them is £20. Cue the end when they ask for £80. Can he refuse? No. I turned down the extra strip thanks. £7 got me enough and it wasn't even that good :/
