So Liverpool won the FA Cup. I decided to get some photos, even though it rained. I was going to go wait at my usual spot but I didn't quite fancy standing around on my own for 5hrs so I left quite late. When I arrived Byrom Street and the flyover was already packed. I wandered around for a bit and was worried that I wouldn't get good shots of the team. After standing around for an hour it occured to me that I shouldn't be taking super sharp photos of the team using my 100-400. I should be capturing the event, the people. So off came the 100-400 and on came the newly accuired Sigma 24-70. There are more photos of the people than the team simply because when the team finally arrived it was like a giant wave crashing upon the city. People just kept walking into me and I didn't really have time to get anything but a couple of shots. I swapped lenses and chased after the bus but it never slowed down. Probably so Liverpool didn't get clogged up like last time.

See if you can spot the HDR shots :)

By this point I had to run for cover. My 10D can take a bit of rain but not a heavy downpour.

It was really coming down and yet people stuck around. The team were over an hour late.

Some people just didn't care about the rain. They just wanted to see their favourite team.

The rain started to let up. The crowds appeared, the bus appeared. Everyone was happy.

I think your ability to capture people at events is great. The rain shots have been captured so much better than I could ever imagined.

Not a Liverpool fan at all but I think you chose wisely to shoot the event rarther than the players.

Yeah I was especially pleased with the rain shots. It was really coming down and I would have been annoyed if I wasn't able to capture that.

I guess if the bus was stationary for too long someone would have the wheels off it :p

Yeah you were lucky to have that to show. When I shot the Touring Cars last year it was raining heavier than anything I had ever seen before and the camera captured it soo well.

Now when I shoot I want either REALLY wet or sunny. The middle stuff just disapoints me when I photograph.

Loving all of these sir, but particularly the rain shots - amazing, to be sure.

I was reading an article just yesterday in PP about a chap who, for the past 15 (IIRC) years has been shooting footy events - but the fans, not the footy itself. Some of the photos in the article.. Well, they're just jaw dropping.

To be blunt, I couldn't give a **** about football. I just don't care for it - but shots like yours and this chaps, they work irregardless of whether you like football or not. Fantastic sir, just fantastic.

edit : 1,2,3,4,5,8,12,13,14 = HDR

I'm not sure how to do it in PS Elements but I found this guide that seems to be what you need.

Yeah you can see just how dull the shots of the footballers on the bus are compared to the rest. They were just snap shots really. Also spot on with the HDR guesses :) I guess that because you've done a lot you can spot its affect.

Genuinely, number 11 is just one of the best pictures at capturing emotion I have ever seen. Simply stunning, wow. The only way it could have been improved would have been to lose the Astra to the left...buts that the position of the fan not you.

The rest are excellent as well, some don't scream football so much but they do say 'nice' in their own way.
