ok i'm buying a 7900gtx tomorrow and i need to know if i upgrade from a 7600gt will it be a simple case of old one out, new one in and fire up............or will i still have to uninstall drivers and then reinstall them(84.21 forceware).

nooby question i know, but i always went nvidia>ati and vice versa in the past.

i'm guessing that if i just continue with the current driver the card will just plug and play??

Uninstall drivers
Remove old card
put in new card
Install drivers
I'd do the same. Even if your moving in the same series, the 7900GTX's a better card so obviously more/better/different (even if getting the same make) features. Basically IMO, it will avoid any issues especially with Windows.

DriveCleaner, in my opinon, is OTT :)

install card
boot to windows
install drivers
restart
reg cleaner

all done with no invalid reg keys left over from previous driver install and current.
