Im considering removing the IHS on my A64 3000, as im sure its making bad contact internally. Im currently using an Artic Freezer 64 HSF. What I was wondering, is if I remove the IHS how do I make good contact as surely there will be a tiny gap where the IHS was. Do I have to use a screw down HSF or is it possible to get the AC Freezer to make tight contact?

Screw down heatsinks are the way to go with naked chips. You have a much greater chance of chipping the core and getting an uneven contact with clip on heatsinks.
