Thanks for your help first of all. Could you elaborate though as when i do this it opens the net via 3G and not through wireless LAN? Could you tell me exactly what you did when you first got the phone to set up the net connection.

I have connected the phone to my network but cannot browse via the network. Come to mention it i dont think i have managed to connect to the network since i first set it up. Could you tell me how you do it?

I have RTFM'd but the manual is bloody useless. Its an Orange phone by the way but doesn't seem to have been bastardised. Many Thanks

Managed to do it on my own - thanks anyway :)

For unsecured WLAN networks: Go to Connections -> Connection Manager -> Avail. WLAN -> see a list of WLAN networks -> Options -> Define access point. Now its doen

For secure WLAN networks: Tools -> Settings -> Connections -> Access points -> Options -> New -> Use default settings -> Define the name; Data bearer should be set to Wireless LAN; Access Point name -> search for it or add it manually; configure your WEP or WPA credentials.

I found the above on another website, as i've not got it working using wireless, as i only have a wifi enabled laptop. However when you first open the browser if you push the left shoulder button to bring up the options menu, then navigate to settings you should see access point as the first option. if you set that to always ask it should ask you what connection you want to use when browsing, then if you've defined you network as a wlan connection you should be able to see it and use it to browse the internet.

Lucky for me my housemate is a comp science guy - specialising in networks an that so he had no problems setting it up on our wireless lan at uni :D
Can now login to my uni network from my bed - no need to even turn on the pc :p ... along with any other website i may choose
Amazingly simple once it's all setup !

Just got my new black N80 delivered today on a vodafone contract. Turns out that the phone is also sim free!!!
So no crappy vodafone software to. Just stuck my old orange sim in, copied my contacts and put the vodafone sim, worked like a charm!

REALLY pleased!

Only thing, has anyone worked out how you change the ringtone on this phone? Been looking around all the menus and I cant find anything?
Any help would be most appreciated!

:)

Vodafone haven't really branded it. There's no Vodafone logo on the outside of the phone and the only thing they've changed is that they've put a Vodafone live icon as the right soft-key, and even that can be changed in the prefrences.

Anyone have an idea as to whether a programme could make the flash turn on permanently - much like the k750i leds can be used as a torch (my mate does :p) ?
As i can't find any way of turning it on other than using it as a flash - it seems quite a darn powerful light too !

I wanted to upgrade my K750i to one of these. Until I walked into Phones4U yesterday just to see what they looked like in the flesh. I won't be buying one now that's for sure! They look like a house brick, and the flip up section just looks tacked on at the last minute. Shocking Nokia, shocking.

Not that i could find, you do realise there isnt much if anything out there for the N80 software wise, another reason why i dumped it in favour of the W810i.
It will take the software developers a bit of time before anything decent turns up on the n80, seeing as its newest edition of the series60 operating system.

Bugger... :(

i was due an upgrade on voda 3 months ago but i was waiting for the n80, so i asked them on saturday how much to upgrade and they said £350!!!

my bill is between £40 and £90 per month, but i guess they dont want my business anymore.

they say, if i get a new contract which is exactly the same (but new number) then i could have the phone for free. :/ madness.

So your 2gig miniSD works fine ? it would seem that good quality is needed :p
I'm happy with the 1gig card in there for now though - will wait for prices to lower on the better quality cards *or* for a firmware update which might allow my card to function properly :)

Erp. I just got mine upgraded for £15 on Orange, on a 500mins/ 500 texts package at £25 a month for a year.
