I just wondered if you run two consoles on one cpu, say one low priority one at 5% cpu usage or something in case the main console cant connect to server for whatever reason, then do the Folding stats say that you have 2 active cpus?

if it finished a WU and sent it then yes it would show as an extra active CPU

however if the main client failed then the backup would continue to only use 5% of the CPU

the solution is to set the main client as "low" priority and the backup client with deadlineless work at "idle" priority - you can also set the backup client to send and receive work in batches so it can queue up to 10 WUs in case you lose your connection

works for me :)
