Need a new setup!

Im currently using my 26" Samsung LCD HDTV as my monitor at home + uni, which does 1360x786. This is simply not enough desktop space anymore. I mainly use my computer for music production, internet and tv shows. I need a new setup. It's birthday time next week, and by the end of May I should have some money to spend on a new monitor.

I want to stay with the wide screen format (rocks for music production) and have been looking at the the various 20" widescreens, who's resolution seems the best for me. Idealy i would be spending around £300. But I do realise that to get what I want I'd need to strech that.

Reading around these forums, the Viewsonic seems to be the pick of the bunch, but I dont want to risk getting a dodgy one (re: backlight bleed). Also, have been considering 2x17" or 19" (no difference in resolution, and smaller size doesnt realy bug me). That options draws me to the Neovo 19" (cheapest with DVI) where I could have a pair at a little over £360.

Im not too fussed about the HDCP thing, as my Samsung TV is compliant, if I get a hd-dvd player. Using Vista over it's HDMI isn't really an option though.

The only other option I regard is saving a little more for what seems like the most superior 1600x1080 monitor. The Samsung 215TW, its 21", HDCP, has component, for my xbox/360. It's also got the 1000:1 ratio, which seems all pretty good on paper - but have never heard anything else about this monitor.

Any insight you guys have, would be much appreciated.

p.s. If i got for a 20/21" widescreen, I will almost certainly still be going mutli-monitor in the near future. It's fine to use a 1280x1024 monitor a second display under XP, right??

Thanks guys.

Perfectly fine.

I am running a Phillips 20" Widescreen @ 1680x1050 and a 19" CRT @ 1600x1200 currently.
