just put together a system for my mate, he brought round his new p4 3.6 which he bought off the bay, and his old cpu cooler, which is the stock cooler from his old p4 3.2 ghz cpu, got it all setup got into the bios, and within about 1 minuit his cpu was over 65oc and within 2 mins it was nearing 85 oc, the cpu is seated correctly, and is making good contact with the cpu etc, i didnt realise that the change in cpu's would make for so much more heat! cant even run his computer now untill we get a new heat sink, it was definatly seated correctly as the cooler was extremely hot to the touch within a few seconds of the machine being on.

The 3.2 HSF is not designed for the 3.6. Intel uprated the design and put some copper on the HSF for the newer 775s.

Either buy an aftermarket HSF like the Zalman9500 or ask someone on here if they have an usued Intel HSF designed for the 3.6.
