It should work absolutely fine with no modifications, SATAII is designed to be backwards compatible. Some you will need to enable SATAII but if you are buying the drive as new it ought not to need anything done to work.

I think so. I bought one at the weekend and stuck it in a SATA to Firewire caddy. It's been fine so far on my Mac.

No jumpers that are labelled up on the drive. Actually no leaflet with the drive at all.
