Hi All,

Say I purchased one UPS to support 1 Windows box, and 1 BSD box. How would I set it up so both boxes would be shut down on a power failure?

If you have decent a UPS (i.e. APC) You install the server software on one of the boxes, and plug the UPS into it, then the client software on the other, then when the power goes you can tell it to shut them both down.

I was looking at the APC BACK-UPS 1500KVA which ocUK sell.

So, would this work:

1. Plug the USB cable into the XP box, and tell the software to shut the box down on a power cut.

2. If there's no cable into the back of the BSD box, is there some kind of deamon which can check that the UPS is shutting down? I'm not sure how that would detect if the UPS is going down if there is no monitoring...
