Just thought i would let you guys know, well if you are interested anyhow!

I have just rebuilt my machine and went for a Sapphire RD580 Advantage board. Unfortunately due to the poor overclockability of the board i managed to get a Asus A8N SLI Premium for a nice cheap price. But before i stripped out the RD580 Chipset i did a 3D Mark benchie and found the following...

Common components:

AMD Athlon64 3200+ Venice
1gb (2x512Mb Sticks Of Geil Ultra DDR500)
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800XT 256Mb
2xMaxtor 160Gb HDD in RAID0 Stripe
Hiper 580w PSU

All running at stock

Sapphire RD580 Advantage Motherboard

3D Mark 2005 - 8198
3D Mark 2006 - 3675

Asus A8N-SLI Premium

3D Mark 2005 - 8187
3D Mark 2006 - 3704

As you can see its swings and roundabouts really... Neither chipset has a clear Advantage ;) There really is nothing in it...

I just moving from a Asus A8N SLI Premium which I sold to fund the move to crossfire dfi 3200 MB.

The only problem I found with the Asus A8N SLI Premium was the limited vcore for the X2's, I was stuck with 1.45v on my 4400 (2.64Ghz)

Before I sold my Asus A8N-Sli Premium I benchmarked everything before I got my Sapphire Pure Innovation, and the Sapphire RD480 board came out ahead of the Asus on every benchmark I ran, some by a tiny margin and some by a bit more.

Just think certain boards are better at some things than others thats all :) Before anybody says i'm an ATi fanboy i'm running an nVidia Geforce 7800GTX ;)
